Cowboy searchs Cowgirl: FabioW
No doubt you know him, with his cowboy hat, crazy Tiktoks and harddd songs, he was all the rage in the media this summer. We are of course talking about the icon of the Mediamarkt, FabioW! This year he was also at StuDay‘s Dance Zone where he gave a fantastic performance that fired up the students, Brrrr. We interviewed him after his performance!
What did you think of StuDay?
FabioW: “I thought it was really super fun. Antwerp is my hometown so for me it was a fantastico experience.”
Do you often invite someone from the audience to join you on stage?
FabioW: “Yes I definitely do that more often, we are currently doing a contest: who will be FabioW’s cowgirl. I’ve tried everything Tinder, Grindr, blind dates, television shows like “boer zkt vrouw”, so now I also try to look for my cowgirl during my shows. But unfortunately she rejected me (cries very dramatically). I am really a lonely cowboy so I hope I find my cowgirl here somewhere in the audience.”
The collab with Botlu was a nice surprise for the audience. Is this your first time doing collabs?
FabioW: “Yes, I do collabs with others quite often. I get invited once in a while and that’s why I thought of bringing Botlu myself and it was fun! For me it was totally right fit.”
Do you have a ritual or routine before you step on stage?
FabioW: “Usually I give my manager a handshake. It’s not that I start stretching or anything but I do have some stress. I don’t really have a ritual for the rest. I did have some extra stress today because Antwerp is my hometown and I don’t want to mess up here.”
How would you describe your style of music for people who don’t know you yet?
FabioW: “which music style? No no I am laughing, my music is just what I think is hard. Sometimes I want to be the new schlager artist like André Hazes, other times I want to vibe more on disco. Mostly I just try something and make what I feel in the moment.
What atmosphere were you hoping to bring to StuDay?
FabioW: “I wanted to bring the wild west to StuDay. I have already seen some cowboys and cowgirls. I like atmosphere with a lot of energy and I do think people felt it and were excited.”
What song of yours do you personally think is underrated?
FabioW: “Hard question because I have a lot of songs online. I do plan to release every two weeks now because everyone says that would be better for me. I plan to bring better quality. I used to just drop songs a lot but if I give a little extra time to people now, they have a little more time to listen to it too. I find it a hard choice to say what is underrated because I really have too much music. I might be the artist with the most music in Antwerp (laughs). ”
What did you think of the Antwerp students?
FabioW: “I wish them all the success in the coming year and I had a super nice time with them! I think they were a little cold but by the end they were really on fire! Whe I was stagediving I was also caught by the students and that was really nice because usually I fall on the ground (laughs). But here in Antwerp, luckily they don’t let me fall, so then I can go home without a black eye.”
Do you have any tips for the students?
FabioW: “I never finished school myself so you shouldn’t really follow my advice but just do your best, surround yourself with the right people, have fun, decide for yourself what you want and go for it! And if you don’t want it you should choose something else, you have a nice long life ahead of you so good luck! Brrrrr.”
We are already total fans of this Antwerp cowboy and wish him all the luck in his cowgirl quest! One thing is for sure, he definitely knows how to get the audience along and give a good performance!
